Update on the Federal Takeover of MPD
As you know from news reports, District of Columbia Attorney General Brian Schwalb filed a lawsuit the morning of Friday, August 15, to stop the federal government takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department. Lawyers for the District of Columbia and the federal government went before a federal judge later that afternoon. As a result of the District's efforts, command and control of the Metropolitan Police Department remains with Chief Pamela Smith (click to watch NBC Washington's overview).
