On August 17, the Ward 2 Democrats held their bi-annual election of officers and precinct representatives. The new officers are: Patrick Allen, Chair; Sherri Kimbel, Vice Chair; Will Stephens, Corresponding Secretary; Bryan Goodman, Recording Secretary and Dan Wedderburn, Treasurer. The new precinct representatives are: Precinct 2, Susana Baranano; Precinct 3, Billy Wright; Precinct 4, Crain Pascal; Precinct 5, Bill Starrels; Precinct 6, Paige Wedderburn; Precinct 13, Mary Eva Candon; Precinct 14, Ed Grandis; Precinct 16, Melkisha Knight; Precinct 18, Sherri Kimbel; Precinct 21, Bernard Demczuk, and Precinct 129, Tiny Ang.

Under the Rules of the Day for the election, nominations for election as officers and precinct representatives had to be submitted to the Chair of the Election Committee by midnight on August 13.  Only one nomination was received for each of the officer and precinct representative positions and the nominees were elected by acclamation at the meeting. No nominations were received for precinct representatives in Precincts 15, 17 or 141 and those positions remain vacant.

Linda Greenan, a past Chair of the Ward 2 Dems, was Chair of the Election Committee and we thank her for her good work. Ronnie Edwards and members of the Democratic State Committee oversaw the election process and we thank them for their participation.

Pleasant Mann, who was previously Assistant Vice Chair, was not eligible for reelection since his residence will no longer be in Ward 2 after the upcoming redistricting. The Ward 2 Dems want to thank Pleasant for his work over many years.

Following the election, Councilmember Jack Evans spoke to the meeting. Jack congratulated the officers and precinct reps and briefly reviewed the political and economic situation in the District.
