Ward 2 Democrats Elect New Officers & Precinct Captains (June 30, 2009) |
The
Ward 2 Democrats elected its officers on June 30, 2009. Patrick Allen was
elected to serve as Chair for the next two years. Sherri Kimbel was
elected 1st Vice Chair; Pleasant Mann, 2nd Vice Chair; Will Stephens,
Corresponding Secretary; Bryan Goodman, Recording Secretary; and Dan
Wedderburn, Treasurer. The vote was by acclamation for each of the
candidates.
Wayne Dickson stepped down after serving as Chair for the past 4
years. Ward Councilmember Jack Evans led the thanks from those present
for the outstanding performance by Wayne who made many contributions to
the Democratic Party and will be missed.
Several precinct representatives were also elected: Susana Baranano,
Billy Wright, Bill Starrels, Paige Wedderburn, Ed Grandis, Melkisha
Knight, Desi Deschaine, Sherri Kimbel and Jeff Coudriet. Alternates
elected included Jo Ricks and Linda Greenan. Ms.
Greenan served once again as Chair of the Nominations Committee and
performed her usual outstanding way. Chair Ronnie Edwards and other
members of the State Committee's Party Organization & Function
Committee were available to conduct the election.

Adrian Fenty - 97 votes (winner)
Vincent Gray - 63 votes
Leo Alexander - 1 vote
Michael Green - 1 vote
Undecided - 1 vote

The Logan Circle Community Association (LCCA) and the
Ward 2 Democrats are hosting a Mayoral straw poll Wednesday, July 21st
at the Washington Plaza Hotel, 10 Thomas Circle. All of the candidates
who filed papers to run have been invited, including current Mayor Adrian Fenty
and current Council Chair Vincent Gray.
Everyone is invited to attend, but only registered
Democrats will be able to participate in the straw poll. Registration begins
at 7pm, and guests will have the opportunity to talk to any candidates who are
present at that time. The presentations will begin at 7:30, and voting
will close by 9:15. (Times subject to change if needed.)
Each candidate will be asked to speak on several
topics. Following the presentation, registered Democrats will have the

We have a vacancy in our position for Female Ward 2 Democratic State Committee Member. This seat must be filled by special election by the Ward 2 Democrats. Calling ALL registered Democrats in Ward 2 to come out and vote! The special election will take place Thursday, March 11th, 6pm in Room 120 of the Wilson Building. Please join us to ensure Ward 2 is fully represented in our state party!
