In the event of an evacuation of the District of Columbia, residents of the West End / Foggy Bottom / GWU neighborhoods will have several different general evacuation directions, as in the event of an emergency, vehicles will not be permitted to cross Pennsylvania Avenue.

North of Pennsylvania Avenue:

• Connecticut Avenue
• Wisconsin Avenue
• 16th Street
• K Street to Canal Road, MacArthur Boulevard, and Key Bridge

South of Pennsylvania Avenue:

• E Street Expressway or Constitution Avenue to either Roosevelt Bridge or Memorial Bridge
• 14th Street Bridge via 14th Street
